the feel of the place

You ever feel like this country has a vague sort of malevolence in the air. There's something I can't quite put my finger on, it's just a feeling but it's there nonetheless. I suppose to notice you might have to spend some time away, but there's something angry and bitter about us. Like none of us are really happy, or feel like we have a stake in anything or anyone. I never normally this melancholy in the Summer...

It's funny you should write that because I haven't been back in Britain since the summer of 2005 but from reading the British newspapers, watching British programmes online and following a wide range of blogs there does seem to be a pervading sense of nastiness and anger in the air.

Hope seems to be the last thing on the agenda.

There was a story of the radio as I was coming home today about immigration and they actually had a clip of Nick Griffin reacting to the report...
